Friday, February 12th, marked the beginning of the Market Street Art Spot’s 6th year of bringing quality fine art to Minerva, Ohio and surrounding area. To celebrate, MSAS’s four Resident Artists created new work inspired by a wood theme, in keeping with the traditional 5 year anniversary gift. Many were on hand to join in the celebration, including Tom Freeland, who provided music while encouraging others to sing along. The evening was sponsored by the Minerva Area YMCA. Stop in on Fridays (1-6 pm) or Saturdays (10-4 pm) to see the exhibit before it ends on Saturday,March 5th.

A visit to the Market Street Art Spot this month will remind you of what’s to love about October. The colorful acrylic paintings of Carol McGill and the exquisite Raku pottery of Judith Singer (this month’s Featured Artists) will set your heart ablaze. Exhibit runs through Saturday, November 7th, so you still have lots of time to stop in.
Many thanks to Dr. Paul Binnig, D.V.M. and Mrs. Diane Binnig, sponsors of the opening reception.

Erin Mulligan is a professional artist living and working out of Canton, Ohio. She has been actively creating art for nearly her whole life. Growing up in an artistic family, it had always been her dream to be creative, speaking to others through her art and to make this her life. Most of Erin’s drawing technique was learned from drawing so much as a child, helped along by the encouragement from her family, and guidance of her mom and grandma. At fifteen her grandmother introduced her to oil paints and taught her in the french impressionistic style. In 2003 she began lessons with Frank Dale. He is a modern day master who teaches his students in the age old oil painting technique of glazing. This is the style of painting which Erin uses today because it allows for so much depth and incredible detail. Most of Erin’s art has something meaningful to say, sometimes it is obvious, but sometimes, the connection is almost subconscious.
“Art is a form of communication which brings peoples souls together. It is an expression of ideas, with or without words, which allows everyone to share at a level where we are all similar.”
“Life” is what Erin is trying to convey through her subjects- the ugly, the beautiful, the mundane, the morbid, everything and the connections which hold it all together.”
Market Street Art Spot is grateful to Summit Glove, Incorporated for sponsoring September’s reception.

The June opening reception at the MSAS may have begun with a torrent of rain, but that didn’t put a damper on the success of the evening, as many came out to see what Isaac Stanley has been up to artistically. As for the “Raines” inside the gallery, it was a downpour of great music (and fabulous food!) enjoyed by all!
This current exhibit will remain on display through Friday, July 3rd. Gallery hours are Wednesday – Friday 1 to 6 pm and Saturday 10 – 4 pm. MSAS will be closed on July 4th.
MSAS extends sincere thanks to Greenport Financial Services in Minerva for sponsoring the reception.
MSAS has been April-showered by the wonderful paintings of accomplished watercolorist, L.W. “Bill” Rettig, Jr. The exhibit opening was enjoyed by a steady flow of patrons who were also treated to a special Grateful Dead tribute by Roger Romeo. MSAS is grateful, too…for Minerva Area Chamber of Commerce, our April sponsor. The show runs through May 2nd. Stop in during gallery hours (Wed, Th, Fr 1-6, Sat 10-4) and treat yourself to a great exhibit!
Market Street Art Spot will open its April exhibit Friday, the 10th, from 5 to 9 pm, featuring L.W. “Bill” Retting, Jr. from West Virginia.
