Trees by John Boyett

JOHN BOYETT

“My work is a reflection of my life… whimsical and frequently unpredictable.  Influenced by bright color combinations found in tropical plants and the unusual forms of saltwater ocean creatures, my work is often comprised of forms with unexpected adornments.”

After completing a five-year enlistment in the United States Air Force, John Boyett, returned to his home state of Florida and attended Pasco Hernando Community College where he received an Associate of Arts degree. In 1992 he studied Fine Arts at Florida International University and worked at the FIU Art Museum.  John became a member of the University of Miami glass blowing guild and studied summer months at Penland School of Crafts.  In addition to his Associate of Arts degree, John holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in glass from FIU.  John has worked blowing glass at Studio Glashyttan in Sweden and specialized in blowing early American glass at Hale Farm and Village in Ohio.  In 2006 he co-founded and opened Akron Glass Works.  John has recently opened a new studio, Canton Glass Works, located in the Canton Arts District.
