Five and Alive

Friday, February 12th, marked the beginning of the Market Street Art Spot’s 6th year of bringing quality fine art to Minerva, Ohio and surrounding area. To celebrate, MSAS’s four Resident Artists created new work inspired by a wood theme, in keeping with the traditional 5 year anniversary gift. Many were on hand to join in the celebration, including Tom Freeland, who provided music while encouraging others to sing along.  The evening was sponsored by the Minerva Area YMCA. Stop in on Fridays (1-6 pm) or Saturdays (10-4 pm) to see the exhibit before it ends on Saturday,March 5th.

“Diary Art”

Market Street Art Spot is excited to announce our Featured Artist for March, Dr. Fredlee Votaw. Over the past 45 years, Votaw has participated in solo, group and competitive shows, garnering numerous awards on local, state and national levels. His work has been written about and published in several arts journals and magazines.

3 marSays the artist:

“…over the last five decades in Stark County I have explored oils, watercolors, multimedia, drawing, photography and computer graphics. Since my retirement I have focused on oils and multimedia and am excited about exploring different surfaces to create on.  I describe my works as contemporary “Diary Art”, responses to life, the world and my emotions. Instead of writing these responses down, as one would do in a diary, I choose to release them visually, in oils or multimedia creations.”

Plan now to join us on Friday, March 15, from 5 – 9 pm for our monthly opening reception and see for yourself the stirring “diary art” of Dr. Fredlee Votaw.
